Linux Mint 22 Now Available for Public Beta Testing
Beta release includes updated software, new features, and modern components
Final release expected later this year
Linux Mint 22, codenamed "Wilma," has entered the beta testing stage ahead of its final release later this year. Linux Mint 22 is a long-term support (LTS) release that will be supported until 2029.
The beta release comes with a number of new features and improvements, including:
- Updated software, including the latest versions of Cinnamon, Xfce, and MATE
- New features, such as a new welcome screen, improved search functionality, and a new screenshot tool
- Modern components, such as the new Ubuntu 2404 package base and kernel version 6.8
The beta release is available for download now from the Linux Mint website. Users can choose to upgrade from a previous version of Linux Mint or to install Linux Mint 22 on a new computer.
The final release of Linux Mint 22 is expected to be released later this year.
